Knight for a Day — Shadow Program
Our Knight for a day shadow program provides an opportunity for an applicant to accompany his or her Saint Mary’s host student through a typical day’s schedule. Our guests will be introduced to our classes, see the campus, learn about our academic and extracurricular programs, and meet students.
Shadowing is not a mandatory part of the application process, but it is a great opportunity to learn more about the Saint Mary’s community and helps when it comes time to decide about which high school is best for them.
The number of participants in each Shadow Day will be capped.
In order to participate in our shadow program, the student must be in eighth grade or above!
What to Expect:
• Arrive at the Administration office lobby at 7:45 a.m.
• Son or daughter will be introduced to their Saint Mary’s host who will welcome them and spend the day with them.
• Lunch will be provided to our guests (1 entrée, 1 snack and 1 drink) in our cafeteria. Shadow guests can also bring their own lunch or additional cash to spend in the cafeteria.
• Parents are invited to stay for an optional meet-and-greet from 8-9 a.m. with the Saint Mary’s Admissions Coordinator. They will provide a short introduction to Saint Mary’s and the admissions process, as well as give parents a brief campus tour.
• Our guests will stay until the end of the school day which is 2:45 p.m. unless it’s a Friday (release time is 1:10).
• Appropriate and modest attire is required. Our guests should wear their school uniform (if attending a school that requires uniform) or should wear a collared shirt and khaki pants, skirt or dress shorts. Shoes must be closed toed. No jeans, T-shirts, or short skirts should be worn (skirts and shorts must be knee length). Male students cannot wear earrings. It is encouraged that you also bring a book with you in case there is a test or quiz being given in one of the classes you will be attending.
• Cell phones are allowed; however, our guests should turn off their phones and place them in their backpacks until they have completed their shadow day. This will allow our guests to be fully aware of and engaged in their experience.
